Chinese Ambassador to Namibia Zhao Weiping Attends Send-Off Ceremony for Khomas Region Medical Delegation and Delivers Remarks

On July 30, Ambassador Zhao Weiping attended and delivered remarks at a send-off ceremony hosted by the Khomas Regional Council for a medical delegation of the region which was going to China for a training programme at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital of the Jiangsu Province. Hon. Emma Tangi Muteka, Vice Chairperson of the National Council & Regional Councillor of Windhoek West Constituency, and Hon. Sam Nujoma, Governor of Khomas Region, among others, attended the event.

In his remarks, Ambassador Zhao spoke highly of the longstanding cooperation between Jiangsu Province and the Khomas Region, stressing that healthcare and people-to-people exchanges are key areas of China-Namibia cooperation. Guided by the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah during President Ndaitwah’s recent state visit to China, China-Namibia cooperation in healthcare and people-to-people exchanges will achieve new and greater development in the time ahead.

Vice Chairperson Muteka and Governor Nujoma expressed appreciation for China’s support for the development of healthcare in the Khomas Region, and said that they stand ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China, learn from China’s advanced experience in healthcare, and improve the quality of healthcare services in the Khomas Region and Namibia as a whole. Members of the delegation said they would cherish the hard-won opportunity to participate in the training programme in China and make active contributions to carrying forward the friendship between the two countries.
